The Light Show is Active from Sunset to 9:00 PM!
Q: Why don't you do more songs?
A: It takes hours to make each sequence just right and work with my display. So, another song could be another 5+ hours of work listing to the same song. I am targeting around a 20-minute show because most people won't stay for much longer than that and it is a reasonable amount of work for me. Remember I am doing both Halloween and Christmas this year.
Q: Do you take song requests?
A: Yes, if you have one email jonah@jonahlights.com. Nobody has done that yet, so all of the songs are picked by me.
Q: Are the lights programmed automatically or is it all handmade?
A: The sequences are all made by hand. I could just buy premade ones online, but the show is far more personalized because I made the sequence myself. The only exception is that this year, the singing faces will be mostly auto sequenced.
Q: Do your neighbors hate you?
A: One person has wished death upon me but most love the show and think I am the coolest person in the neighborhood.
Q: Do you help your parents do this?
A: Not really, other than (some) of the money, and motivation. I do it all from sequencing the lights to setting them up and taking them down.
Q: Do you do it at your own house?
A: Yes, and I don't exactly like showing off my address on the internet but I kind of have to if I want people to see my work in person. So, the address is available only when the show is active.
Q: When I went to see the lights, all the windows were dark, are you ever home?
A: Most of the time I am home, but if you have questions or want to meet in person, please email jonah@jonahlights.com first.
Q: How much is this all worth?
A: I estimate that it costs around three to five thousand dollars for everything. This is an expensive hobby.
Q: How much is your power bill?
A: The lights and controllers are much more expensive, but the bill does go up by around 40 to 50 dollars for Christmas. Not too much in the grand scheme of things.
Q: Where and how did you learn how to do this?
A: I saw a video of a show like this online when I was seven and said I could do that. So, in 6th grade I started planning a light show then the next year in 7th grade I pulled it off. It has grown every year so far. I am self-taught, there are plenty of tutorials and support groups online if you want to learn how to do this.
Q: How many cars go by?
A: Not enough in my opinion, please come see it if you are able.
